School Exchange with the Jozefsinstituut ( Tielt,
Belgium)
( Chiavari – Tielt ) 4th –11th October 2003
Saturday 4th October
Arrival of the Belgian students and their teachers at the station in
Chiavari at about 18.30. Meeting with the Italian families.
Sunday 5th October
Morning : with the families
Afternoon : free (students may want to go to the beach if the weather
is still fine or they may visit Chiavari with their partners .)
Monday 6th October
Morning : At school from 8 a.m. to 10.30
After the welcome greeting from the Headmaster , the Italian students
will show their partners their school , illustrating the different
subjects they study, their timetable, their schoollife in general.
At 10.30 a visit to the Townhall where the Belgian students and teachers
will be welcomed by the new Mayor.
At 12.15 we will take a train to Santa Margherita .
From Santa Margherita the group will take a boat to Portofino .
Packed lunch. Visit of Portofino and back in Chiavari at about 5.15
p.m.
Tuesday 7th October
Visit of the "Cinque Terre": ( Riomaggiore,
Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia and Monterosso)
At 8 a.m at the station in Chiavari. The train is at 8.19 a.m.
Arrival in Riomaggiore at 9.17 a.m.
If good weather – trekking tour from Riomaggiore to Manarola (the
so-called " love path"!)
Packed lunch in Manarola.
Then we will move by train to visit the other picturesque small “lands” (Vernazza
and Corniglia) which can be easily reached because they’re two
or three minutes by train from each other.
Back in Chiavari at about 4.30 p.m.
In the evening : at about 8.30 / 9 p.m. a stroll in Sestri Levante by
night and an ice-cream all together.
Wednesday 8 th October
At school from 8.00 to 11.00 : Activities in class – Italian
school system / comparing Italian and Belgian school system
At 11 we will leave for the station to get the 11. 30 train to Genova.
Arrival in Genova at 12.07 . Sightseeing in the historical centre and
packed lunch in the area of “Porto Antico”.
From 14.00 to 16.00 visit of the Acquarium .
Some free time for shopping before taking the train back
: Genova Brignole 17.58 – arrival in Chiavari at 18.47.
Thursday 9th October
Day-trip to Florence .
Departure at 8.00 a.m. from the school (Piazza del Popolo) by coach.
Arrival in Florence at about 10. 30 a.m.
Visit of the town and packed lunch.
In the afternoon : more sightseeing and some shopping.
Departure from Florence : 6 p.m.
Arrival in Chiavari at about 8.30 p.m.
Friday 10th October
Morning : at school from 8 a.m to 9.45 a.m
(volleyball match : Chiavari vs. Tielt !)
At about 10.30 a.m. a last visit of Chiavari , including a guided tour
of Palazzo Rocca and the surrounding botanic garden and short walk around
the market stalls.
Back home for lunch.
Afternoon : with the families. (packing and saying “good-bye”)
Evening : about 8 p.m. : all together for a "good-bye PIZZA".
Saturday 11th October
Departure of Belgian students and teachers by the 7.35 train to Milan.
Italian students say good-bye to their partners at the station and
then go back to school.
